Charles Connell, is the permanent of the Carleton County Historical Society.Founded in 1960 by a small group of dedicated individuals, the Societys original objective was to acquire the old Carleton County Court House, long used as a stable, and accurately restore the building to its original condition; to research and document local history; to acquire and preserve historical documents and artefacts relating to the County, and by example and education, inspire others to emulate them. Old Court House Papers People Publications Woodstock 'The indifference of the majority of our people towards our local history will inevitably be replaced in time by the deep and wide-spread interest to which its rich and varied character entitles it. In the meantime, however, material of the highest historic value is being lost, and it should be a pleasant duty for us to preserve such parts of it as may add to the glory of our people, or the knowledge of our race.
